WHY I FIGHT - Sean Powers

As a trainer in the fitness world everyone always asks, what do you do for your workouts?  My response has always been the same, I move my body as much as I can, in as many different ways that I can.  For the past 10 years I have resided in Memphis TN and my obsession with finding my next ‘sweat" led me further into the group fitness world and eventually opened the door for me into boxing. My Rumble Boxing journey started just like everyone else. I signed up for my first at Rumble Boxing Memphis class not knowing what was behind the large black door. My interaction with both the staff and members prior to class made that very clear…I was about to have one hell of a workout!

From my first class, I was completely hooked on Rumble. The programming, the lights, the music, the people, it was exactly the environment I was looking to add to my routine. Just a year later after countless slips, jabs and rolls I now find myself leading from the stage at Rumble Boxing Fort Lauderdale. I am completely honored and blessed to work alongside some of the most amazing people both on and off the stage.

They are more than coworkers, they are family and family is always there for each other. This was crucial to me because on October 29th 2024, just two months into my new position at Rumble, I lost my mother to cancer. As devastating as my loss was, I wanted to honor my mother and help others who may have been in my position in any way that I could. Just when things were at their worst, there was a bright light at the end of my tunnel in the form of a charity organization called Haymakers For Hope. Haymakers for Hope gives everyday men and women the opportunity to fight back against this terrible disease by training for and competing in charity boxing events, raising money and building awareness. To prepare for each event, they combine the efforts of the first time amateur boxing participants, local boxing gyms and volunteers. We had four months to train for the event and time was crucial.I am thankful to have started with Rumble Boxing as I had already built a foundation of skills that I drilled every single day in the studio.

I started training for the fight with coaches from a traditional boxing gym in Fort Lauderdale, Boxfit. Each day was something new and exciting. I was able to take the technical knowledge and expertise from them and combine it with our in-studio programming at Rumble to create an unstoppable environment. Creating this environment and having the support of everyone at Rumble Boxing Fort Lauderdale led to my first amateur boxing career WIN on March 6, 2025 and I raised $14,000 for cancer research.
